Hairy, Hairy...

I just want to give you a before and after of Evan's haircut.
I did it all by myself! Thank You. Thank You very much!
He hadn't had a haircut all summer!!!!!! Yikes!

Back to school...Yea!

So, Evan is nothing like I was when I was his age. I mean I didn't go to class by myself on the first day of school until the 5th grade. I only went in with him today so I could get some pictures of him at his desk and in the class because I didn't get any for kindergarten. (I dropped the camera on the way to school and broke it.) He was such a big boy and excited to go.

When I woke him up he said, "I'm still a little bit sleepy." and then he said, "I'm so tired I think I'm going to cry a little bit." :( Then I told him he was going to get to wear his new clothes and his new shoes and he was going to get to see some of his friends from his class last year and he was better. He ate oatmeal for breakfast and than just kept asking when it was time to go.

On the way out of the neighborhood, he thought he saw his friend Blake and wanted to ride the bus to school instead. But then he saw that it wasn't Blake and said I could take him. BUT, he sure does want to ride the bus to and from school tomorrow.

Joining the Twilighters...

Ok, So I joined the Twilighters about July 18th. I had been talking to my mom and sister and they got into them. As they were talking about the series, I realized it was the same books Lindsey Woolsey (cousin - in- law) had been reading and blogging about. She is a Twihard Twilighter. BUT what I didn't realize from reading Lindsey's blog was that they were vampire books. I love vampires. I love all the supernatural things. So I sure did go out and buy all three of the four books that were out. I was sooooo happy that I hadn't gotten into this years ago and that I only had to wait a few days (by the time I got through with #3) for #4 to come out. I love them. I love them. I love them and I love Stephenie Meyer. So I am going to buy The Host now and read that as soon as I am done reading Vol. 1 of the Porter Rockwell Chronicles.
I also can't wait to see Twilight on the BIG screen. I'm going to Texas for Christmas just a week after it comes out, so Mom and Kelsey are going to wait for me to go see it when I get there. Yipeeeee!!!

Our Hero

Evan's thing lately has been to tie his blankets around him like a cape. He is really into watching all the superhero shows on Cartoon Network and Jetix and such. His favorite lately is Ben 10. I didn't know much about it, but for his b-day he got one of the action figures and now we own the complete 3rd season on dvd and he hasn't stopped watching it, except to outside and play. Ben Tennison is 1/2 alien and 1/2 human and can turn into aliens that have different abilities like super speed or strength or fire, etc. so he can help people and stop bad aliens. Crazy huh? I can't keep up with it all, but Evan sure can.

Pigtails, Phones, and Teeth...

Ava's hair is long enough now that I try to put it up in pigtails or a ponytail. She will leave it in until she starts to get sleepy and then takes it out.

She also loves to play with the phone. The real phone. She will only play with her toy phone for a little while and then throws it behind her and gets the real phone. So if you call and you can't get through, it might be because Ava got a hold of the phone when I wasn't looking.

Ok, so Ava is about 15 1/2 months and still has only TWO teeth. I have heard that thelonger they take to come in the stronger they are but, COME ON!!! She can, however, gum to death just about any food we give her.

Ava's Necklaces

So here are some remarkably cute pics of Ava and her necklaces.

The story with the necklaces began a few months ago. Evan had recieved a couple of mardi gras necklaces at a B-day party and I tried to put the on her then, but she wouldn't have it. She didn't like them and didn't want them on. Flash forward to last week. Those two necklaces were in th eliving room one day and that little tot crawled right up to them and figured out how to get them around her neck on her own and from that moment one she had to have them on. We take them off when she sleeps, but as soon as she wakes up she points and grunts that she has to have them. All 8 of them!!!

No Slowing down

So things have not slowed down all summer long and I have neglected my blog. Sorry. Her is a little overview.
At the end of June there was an airshow here at Elmendorf and the kids and I had a blast. (Pics to Come) Then all through July we just played and played and played some more. Keeping up with James crazy 12 hour shifts from 7am -7pm or vice versa is just another thing we do.

In April, right after General Conference, the stake added a ward and changed ward boundaries so now we belong to the Arctic Valley Ward. We have to drive about 10 miutes further than before to Eagle River, but this ward includes our whole side of Elmendorf AFB and Ft Richardson Army Post. I am soooo grateful for that, I can't even tell you. There are so many more Sisters on base now and it is great to be able to not have to worry about how they are going to get on and so forth. I love it. My callings in the ward are not too difficult and have allowed me to be in Relief Society which frankly, is a relief. I really needed to be around the Sisters and to get to know them at an adult level instead of just through their children. AND our RS President is great. I love Jessica so much. She has alrady become a good friend and I appreciate all she does. I am the RS Pianist and the Activity Days Leader. So I still serve in Primary, but not on Sundays.

Now School starts on Monday for Evan and I can't wait. We get to meet his teacher, Ms. Armstrong tomorrow and I'm already ready. All the school supplies are bought. New shoes, a few new outfits and such are ready to go and I am excited!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ava has decided that she will now grace us with her walking abilities and is getting better by the day. She has also decided that she is a girlie girl. I had suspected this for quite some while but we now know for sure. She where's necklaces all day everyday, except for naptimes and bedtime and when she wakes up she immediately reaches and points for hre necklaces and puts them on. All 8 of them.

I guess that's it for now. Pics to come of all the summer events and of a few other things!
